TruShop E-Commerce Platform
TruShop is a next-gen e-commerce platform that merges the simplicity of WhatsApp with the power of a marketplace app. It enables retailers to launch digital storefronts and deliver quick-commerce convenience, while buyers enjoy seamless access to trusted sellers across categories. Whether you're selling groceries or fashion, TruShop makes it easy to connect, transact, and grow — all in one unified space. Personalized shopping meets digital efficiency, making every interaction feel familiar and fast.
In depth
How it was built
TruShop started as an empty repository and a conviction: neighbourhood retail already runs on chat, so an e-commerce platform that feels like WhatsApp but carries the power of a marketplace would let small retailers sell online without learning new software. As the founding engineer I owned that journey end to end — from the first architecture sketch to a platform where retailers launch digital storefronts and buyers shop trusted sellers across categories, from groceries to fashion.
The storefront is a Progressive Web App built with React, Material UI, JavaScript and TypeScript — installable, fast on patchy mobile networks, and consistent across devices. Behind it sits a Node.js backend over PostgreSQL, using procedures and triggers where the database does the job best, with REST and GraphQL APIs verified through Postman. Everything ships containerised with Docker onto AWS infrastructure that I provisioned and maintained myself.
Product work was half the job. I operated as the bridge between the engineering and product teams, working daily with design on flows and with marketing on review-driven improvements — reading what buyers and sellers complained about, then analysing and fixing the UX flows behind those complaints. The chat-like shopping experience buyers describe as just like the local store, now online, came directly out of that loop.
On the operations side I led and managed the tech team: distributing and tracking work daily using Agile methodology, running system administration, setting up infrastructure and deployment pipelines, and handling account provisioning and access management across Slack, Google Workspace, Asana and Figma.

Delivery
How the work ran
01
Delivery ran on a daily Agile cadence — tasks distributed every morning, progress tracked every evening, blockers cleared the same day. With a small team building a whole platform, there was no room for work to sit idle or drift from what product had actually asked for.
02
Reliability was treated as a feature: APIs tested through Postman before they ever reached the app, releases flowing through deployment pipelines rather than manual deploys, and production issues triaged alongside new work instead of after it.
03
Ownership extended past code into the organisation itself — onboarding the team onto the right tools with the right access, keeping infrastructure documented and reproducible, and making sure design, product and marketing always knew the true state of the build.
